Hi, my friends!
In this tutorial, I’ll show you step by step how to install Shimeji on your computer. The Shimeji software is written in Java and can run on Windows, Linux, and macOS.
Please follow carefully — let’s get started! 🚀
✅ Step 1: Download and Install Java
Once the installer is downloaded, open it and follow the setup wizard by clicking Next → Next → Finish. Easy!
✅ Step 2: Download Shimeji-ee Software
Now, download the Shimeji-ee program:

Most Shimeji packs come compressed in .zip or .rar. You’ll need an extraction tool like WinRAR or 7-Zip (Download here).
After extracting, you should see a folder that looks like this:
✅ Step 3: Start It Up
Open the folder and double-click on Shimeji-ee.jar to run the software.
If everything goes well, you’ll notice a small Shimeji icon appear in the bottom-right corner of your desktop.
Right-click on that icon (or on a Shimeji character itself) to access customisation options. 🎉
✅ Step 4: Add More Shimeji Characters
If you want to add shimeji, you need to download it first. You can find many cute shimeji in the shimeji list
After downloading and extracting it, you can see something like this
It’s similar to shimeji software folder. Now you need to make a new folder in the img/ subfolder of the software (in this example is Wolfie the Grey Wolf)
And then, you need to copy all images and the conf folder of shimeji to the above subfolder
Finally, you need to right-mouse-click on the app icon and select Settings ->
Choose Shimeji… and select your shimeji. All done!
